Extra Credit Opportunities!
--You may visit any of the places listed here for extra credit.  Click on the link for information and locations.  Bring me a ticket, a stamp from the bookstore or  photograph of you at the site with a brief  written reaction to the museum or Mission.

--At any time during the year, you may write a family history.  Amount of credit depends on the time spent.  You may want to include photos, interviews, maps and artifacts.  In the past, credit has varied from 10 to 200 points for this project.

--Occasionally, I offer a movie or video for extra credit.  Listen in class for these opportunities.  I will need a written reaction and a ticket.  Please get parental permission if the movie is rated R.

--ALL extra credit for 1st semester is due by the second day after Christmas break.  ALL extra credit for 2nd semester is due by the end of May.  NO EXCEPTIONS

Extra Credit can raise your grade up to one full letter, or 10%.
--You may also visit the Long Beach/Los Angeles Harbor area and observe the shipping taking place between all parts of the world, particularly North America and Asia.  Take a photo of yourself near the water and write a reaction.

--On any trip you take, you may keep a journal of your observations and turn it in for possible extra credit.  Note the geography, the architechture, the culture and what issues concern the residents.  (This is a castle in Austria where I would love to visit).

--You may rent and watch Thirteen Days, a video about the Cuban Missile Crisis.  For credit, write a brief summary and a thoughtful reaction to the film.  There is swearing in the film so do not rent the video if you will find that to be a problem.
--You may ask me if you may incorporate a special interest into some extra credit.  For example, if you are a writer, you may want to write a story about the French Revolution.  If you are an artist, perhaps you can do some history related artwork.  These projects need to be approved by me in writing before you do the work.
--There are numerous informative historical websites and books which would cover some special interest of yours.  Just make sure the information is historically correct and check with me to see if I approve research on the site for extra credit.
